Worldwide Delivery

UK Delivery

  • Couriers are continually increasing their prices in line with inflationary pressures – they are significantly affected by fuel and energy price rises
  • Our shipping rates are calculated in the basket by weight and destination
  • UK Mainland shipping options are displayed as default in your basket until you register/log in to your account with a different delivery address
  • We do not offer Free Delivery
  • Shipping prices are based on what the carriers charge us
  • We subsidise our shipping rates where we believe that the courier costs are unreasonable
  • We do not charge for packing or packaging
  • We re-use as much as possible of the inbound cardboard boxes, packaging, pallets, etc. and recycle the remainder
  • Saturday Delivery is only available by special arrangement (except via Evri, see above)
  • Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays are not generally working days for courier collection or delivery timescales
  • If you have any doubts about shipping, please telephone 01297 20744 – we are here to help
  • We will always endeavour to deliver your parcel on the earliest possible day
  • We do not offer a guaranteed next-day delivery service because we have found that all the couriers let us down occasionally

Standard UK Mainland Delivery

Please allow up to 7 working days for a standard courier delivery

Standard Courier, Trackable Delivery including DPD Preferential Courier

  • Our Despatch Team selects FedEx, DHL or Parcelforce according to your shipping selection, the delivery destination and the nature of the goods.

Standard Royal Mail, no tracking available

  • The whole of the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, the Scilly Isles, all Scottish Isles and the Channel Islands

Heavy Freight

  • This applies to any single parcel over 30kg
  • Pallets are required from around 50kg, depending on the packed dimensions of the parcel
  • Our pallet service is available for up to 1000kg
  • Tracking is available, but it is not automatically accessible to our customers
  • It is essential that there is someone available to accept delivery

UK Carriers

We use DPD, DHL, FedEx, UPS and Parcelforce for our Trackable Courier and Express Deliveries.
We utilise a range of Freight Palletised Services for our heavy parcels. These deliveries are trackable, but the details are not automatically available to you. Our Despatch Team will work with you to ensure your convenient delivery.

Couriers will require a signature for your delivery unless you enter alternative instructions in the appropriate box on the shipping page during checkout.

The DPD service includes contacting you to manage your delivery.

Any arrangement which bypasses the need for a signature means that Jimmy Green Marine is not responsible for the parcel once it has been delivered.

For your convenience and security, you can enter a separate delivery address, such as your workplace.
If you need clarification on any aspect of our delivery system, please don’t hesitate to contact us – we are here to help.

Collect in Store

Select your items into your basket, proceed to Checkout, and add a UK address and postcode to your online account addresses.
You can enter the Jimmy Green address and postcode if required, then select ‘Collect in Store’ from the shipping options.

It would be beneficial to give us a collection required date. You can enter it in the message box or email sales@jimmygreen.co.uk to provide more detailed information.

However, please remember that if you have ordered any Splicing, Rigging or Sewing, this will be subject to the lead time mentioned above.

Our website also generates a Ready for Collection email.

If you have ordered anything that we cannot supply within the timeframe you have given us, we will notify you as soon as possible, either by email or telephone.

Restricted Goods

We use this overall title for all items that the couriers either surcharge or refuse to accept.

Restricted Goods include anything over 1 metre in length or classed as hazardous by the couriers.

Restricted Goods covers many items that Royal Mail and Parcelforce have entirely banned.

We can’t just ‘pop’ them in the post – there are heavy penalties for contravening their terms.

Pyrotechnics

We no longer supply Flares.

Restricted Goods cover a wide range of items that the couriers either refuse to carry or choose to surcharge for the privilege:

  • Liferafts (which are packed with flares inside)
  • Lifejackets
  • Rearming Kits
  • Paint
  • Antifouling
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Aerosols
  • Flammables
  • Liquids, Pastes and Oils
  • Knives and scissors
  • Parcels 1 metre and over in length

This list is not exhaustive, but the shipping option at checkout filters out the possibilities to ‘Restricted’, ‘Collect in Store’ or ‘Quote Required’ if you add anything classified as restricted to your basket.

There is a Priority Shipping option at checkout for UK mainland delivery postcodes.
The extra charge means your order is promoted to the top of the queue.
This is particularly significant for splicing and rigging orders.

Selecting priority shipping does not guarantee same-day despatch. Additionally, the time required to prepare your order and our courier’s collection times must be taken into account.

If the day and timing of your delivery are critical, please speak to the customer service team, who will be able to advise on the options and charges for timed courier services, such as by 10am or by noon.

While this still doesn’t guarantee next-day delivery, it does maximise the chances of a successful conclusion.

Please note that upgraded delivery services to some geographical regions in the UK described by the couriers as ‘Two Day’, e.g., parts of Scotland, are unavailable. Therefore, we can only prioritise despatch by the optimum courier for these areas.

Jimmy Green Shipping Rates

Carriage costs are calculated in the basket by weight and worldwide destination.

Create an online account and add your delivery address to view all your shipping options.

Due to our large volume of parcels, we can offer multiple options at economical rates.

N.B. On rare occasions, the website shipping calculator may not accurately reflect the actual cost.

  • This can happen if you order relatively light but bulky items via Express Courier because the parcel volume incurs a surcharge
  • The couriers also class some delivery addresses as remote, incurring a surcharge

In either of these events, we will contact you to work out a satisfactory solution.

Shipping Parameters – Quote Required

If the contents of your basket, combined with your delivery destination, prevent our website from automatically generating a shipping price, please select ‘Quote Required’.
You can either continue to pay for your order or email details of your basket, and we will send you a quote to finalise the order.

VAT Guide

Jimmy Green Marine Ltd VAT Number: GB 979 3427 65

All the prices on our website include VAT for delivery within the UK (excluding the Channel Islands)

If your delivery destination is outside the UK (including the Channel Islands):
You can add your items to the Basket, go to Checkout, and register your delivery destination details.
Our website automatically excludes UK VAT from export prices.

Delivery to a Bonded Freight Forwarder
We can deliver to a freight forwarder for consolidation into an onward export shipment. VAT is payable initially and refunded with proof of export from the forwarding service. There is a three-month limit on claims, dating from the day of supply (not the invoice date), which means that items can be ordered in advance without any risk to the VAT reclaim process.

UK Yacht in Transit
We can supply you on your yacht at a bona fide Marina delivery address prefixed with ‘Yacht in Transit’ on request.
We will require proof of identity from the skipper and the official yacht registration, which must show that the country of residence and registration is outside the UK.

N.B. UK VAT is payable on the order initially and will be refunded only upon receipt of documented proof of yacht export.

Export Yacht in Transit
We can supply you on your yacht at a bona fide Marina delivery address prefixed with ‘Yacht in Transit’ on request.
We will require proof of identity from the skipper and, in some cases, the official yacht registration, which must show that the country of residence/registration differs from the country of delivery.
Goods are exported excluding UK VAT.
Theoretically, the receiver will not have to pay import duty or VAT because they are a foreign national on a foreign-registered yacht, not permanently based in that country.
The import process varies according to the location or country.
Local rules/regulations may apply.
Customs officers may be uncooperative, and an administration fee or commission may be levied.
If import duty or VAT is charged, it should be possible to claim reimbursement when the yacht departs. However, this is not guaranteed.

Once your documentation is validated, we will mark the parcel with the words ‘Yacht in Transit’ and include them on the invoice.

N.B. Jimmy Green Marine is not responsible for any charges on receipt of the goods, regardless of whether those charges are expected.

The UK Government has withdrawn the Export Retail UK VAT Reclaim Scheme.

Unfortunately, this scheme is no longer available:
